About Neurocentro Liverdad – English-Speaking Psychology Practice in Tenerife
Neurocentro Liverdad is a clinical psychology practice in Tenerife led by Romen Hernández Díaz, a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience. We provide evidence-based therapy in fluent English to expats, residents and visitors who prefer to do therapy in their first language—or simply with the cultural context that comes from working with international clients every day.
Our approach blends contemporary neuroscience with clinically validated treatments. We measure progress, set realistic goals together, and adjust the plan as the work unfolds—without losing the human warmth that makes therapy actually work.
Conditions and Concerns We Treat
Anxiety, Panic and Worry
Generalised anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, health anxiety and obsessive thoughts respond well to a combination of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques and—where appropriate—EMDR. Most clients notice meaningful improvement within 8 to 12 sessions.
Depression and Low Mood
Persistent low mood, loss of energy, difficulty sleeping, or feeling disconnected from your own life often have many entry points. We use behavioural activation, cognitive restructuring and—when relevant—work on biographical material that keeps the pattern locked in. The aim is not just symptom relief, but reconnection with what makes you feel alive.
Trauma and EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the most effective treatments for PTSD, complex trauma and recurring emotional patterns rooted in early experiences. Romen Hernández Díaz is EMDR-certified and integrates the method into a broader therapeutic plan when indicated.
Relationship and Couples Therapy
When communication has broken down, the same arguments keep returning, or you are recovering from a breach of trust, structured couples work can open new ground. We draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method—both internationally recognised, well-researched approaches.
Life Transitions and Adjustment Difficulties
Moving abroad, a separation, a career change, grief, a serious diagnosis: life events that shake your foundations need a space where what is happening can be sorted, processed and integrated. Often a short, focused therapy is enough to find your footing again.
Online Therapy in English
We offer fully online therapy through a secure, GDPR-compliant platform. Research consistently shows that for most clinical concerns, online therapy is comparable in effectiveness to in-person work—with the added benefit of continuity even if you travel, relocate or move between countries.
What to Expect from a First Session
- Initial consultation (50 minutes): We get to know each other, you tell me what is going on, and together we form an early hypothesis about what might help.
- Brief assessment (1–2 sessions): When useful, we add standardised questionnaires to define therapy goals more precisely.
- Treatment plan: We agree on a realistic plan with clear interim milestones. You always know what we are working on and why.
- Regular sessions: Usually weekly at first, then fortnightly. Most concerns can be meaningfully addressed in 12–25 sessions.
- Closure and follow-up: When the goals are met, we plan the transition out. Booster sessions are always available later if needed.
